Police Parade 30 Suspects For Child Trafficking, Robbery In Abia

30 suspects involved in different crimes arrested from some parts of Abia State were yesterday paraded by the State Police Command.

Speaking while the suspects were paraded, state Police Commissioner, Mr. Mohammed Tilli Abubakar disclosed that they were arrested for alleged robbery, car snatching and baby sales.

Nineteen of the suspects, young girls between 16 and 23 years of age, were arrested in an illegal charity home for child trafficking, while eleven other suspects were arrested for robbery, car snatching and illegal possession arms.
Abubakar said the arrests were made between November and this month.


Speaking further, Abubakar said two AK-47 riffles snatched from two police inspectors killed by robbers, Jimmy John and Kingsley Etuk, were recovered in a bag buried in a ground in a bush in Umuawa Alaocha, Ohuhu, Umuahia North Council.

“Within this month of December, the command had some ugly events owing to the loss of two her personnel to men of underworld in the course of their services to mankind,” Abubakar said.

The commissioner also disclosed that the 18 young girls were rescued from an illegal charity home at Umuobia Housing Estate, Olokoro in Umuahia South council, allegedly owned one Mrs. Nma Achumba.
