OPC MEMBER ARRESTED FOR ARMED ROBBERY

A member of a faction of the O’odua Peoples Congress (OPC), Abiodun Olarewaju, was among four armed robbers paraded at Lagos Police headquarters.

According to the Lagos Police image maker, DSP Ngozi Braide, who did not provide information on whether the suspect belongs to Dr. Fredrick Fasehun’s faction or that of Gani Adams, the robbers had separately robbed at another location on the particular day before storming the Christ Authority and Power Evangelical Ministry (CAPEM).

Speaking further, she said on the December 31, 2013 at about 23:45hours, a group of armed robbers had stormed the auditorium of the Christ Authority and Power Evangelical Ministry (CAPEM),Vespa Ijanikin Lagos-Badagry expressway in Lagos during the church’s annual cross over night.

She said, “They had snatched the microphone from the pastor who was conducting service and ordered every member to lie flat on the floor.


“They had thereafter robbed the worshippers of their valuables which include trinkets, jewelries, cash and handsets, while they carted away the church’s offerings collected during the service”, she added.

She also revealed that this set of robbers on the following morning being 1st January 2014 also robbed the resident of Morontola Street,Vespa Ijanikin, but unlike their easy passage at the church, the resident exhibited bravery and engaged the robbers making them to abandon their mission.

It was further revealed that in their haste to escape being caught, one of the robbers lost his gun, and revisited the scene of confrontation asking some street urchins and miscreants if they had mistakenly found his missing gun.

The supposed miscreants alerted the inhabitants who quickly apprehended him and handed to the police, who subsequently transferred him to the Anti-Robbery Section.

When search was conducted by the police at a hide-out of the gang, two double barrel locally made pistols, live cartridges and military camouflage uniform were found.
