Golden Eaglets on fire,thrash Congo DR 7-0 to qualify for semis

At the ongoing African Under 17 championship in Morocco,Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets on Saturday qualified for the semi-finals in style,pummeling Congo DR 7-0.

The overwhelming victory,ensured that Nigeria equally topped group B,and qualified for the FIFA Under 17 World Cup in the UAE.

Isaac Success continued in his impressive form at the tournament,scoring a brace,but the stand-out performer for the Golden Eaglets,was Kelechi Iheanacho who bagged a hat-trick in the 4th,44th and 86th minutes respectively.

Nigeria’s two other goals were scored by Mathew and Yahaya who completed the rout for coach Manu Garba’s team.

The Golden Eaglets finished the group on six points,above Côte d’Ivoire who came second with five points,having drawn their last group game with Ghana.

Nigeria will now face Tunisia in the semi-final clash on Wednesday,while Côte d’Ivoire will play against the host nation,Morocco,in the other fixture.

The Golden Eaglets have a massive goals haul of +11 scoring a staggering 13 goals,and conceding just two goals in the first three games of the competition.

Nigeria’s Isaac Success leads the goalscorers charts with six goals,followed by another Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho who is on four goals.
