Chelsea finally offers Frank Lampard one-year extension

England international,Frank Lampard on Thursday signed a one-year extension to remain at Chelsea for another season.
The 34-year old midfielder has had an outstanding season at Chelsea, becoming the club’s all time record goalscorer, with 203 goals.
Lampard was linked with a move away from Chelsea, after the club initially stalled on extending his contract beyond the existing one that would have expired at the end of this season.
“I’m absolutely delighted. Everybody knows I always maintained the dream was to stay at Chelsea. We’ve been talking for ages and even though it went on for quite a period it was always amicable,” Lampard told the club’s official website.
“I want to thank Mr Abramovich for everything he’s done in making the dream a reality. I love this club, the staff, the players and especially the supporters, who have treated me fantastically since the day I arrived.
“The thought of helping the club to more success in the forthcoming years is all I ever wanted. I couldn’t be happier.”
Lampard played a pivotal role in Chelsea’s quest for success this season, helping the Blues win the Europa Cup and also qualifying for next season’s Champions League.
Last night’s Europa League victory with Chelsea, was the 14th trophy that he has won with the club since joining from West Ham.
He could reunite with former boss,Jose Mourinho, who is expected to take over as manager of Chelsea.
