NFF denies claims, they are slashing Keshi’s monthly salary

The Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) have denied reports making the rounds that they have reached an agreement to slash the salary of Super Eagles coach,Stephen Keshi.
Rumours were flying about, that the NFF on Wednesday decided to reduce the monthly salary of Stephen Keshi by 50%,which would see him now earn N2.5m instead of the stipulated N5m on his contract.
Debunking such claims,Chairman of the NFF Media and Publicity,Emeka Inyama, said that they intend to honour Keshi’s contract and that at no point did they say, that they were going to reduce his salary.
The NFF has a contract with Coach Stephen Keshi, clearly-spelt-out, and we intend to respect that contract. That contract says Keshi is to get N5million as monthly salary. Nothing has changed. The NFF Executive Committee is composed of highly disciplined, diligent and responsible Nigerians and we will not do anything that would have unsavoury consequences for any of the National Teams,” Inyama said.
We have talked about auditing of staff of the National Teams, especially backroom staff, as well as pegging of bonuses and allowances. We are constrained to do this as a result of our poor finances and we believe that Nigerians understand we have to do this in order to continue to fulfil our obligation of presenting the National Teams for international competitions and tournaments.”
Meanwhile it has emerged that the NFF will issue a query to Keshi, following his unavailability during the meeting of the technical committee held on Tuesady, where they reached the decision to lay-off some of his technical crew, including the assistant coach Sylvanus Okpara.
“Keshi made a request to go and see his family but the approval has not been conveyed and he traveled but not that it was rejected but the reason is that the federation wanted him to be part of the meeting and if Keshi was in Lagos Monday night to collect his Car gift how difficult could it have been to stay for another 24 hours to attend the meeting,” Inyama said on Brila FM.
“I think we should not try to condone this act and what is not right” he said.
It is always difficult to believe everything the NFF says.
