Blessing Okagbare has shaken off
the disappiontment of last year’s failures, recording an impressive
showing at the Mount San Antonio College Relays on Saturday.
Okagbare who posted good times at some of her events in the Diamond
League last year,before the ill-fated London 2012 Olympics;over the
weekend ran the best time this year in the women’s 200 meters
event,recording a time of 22.31 (wind +1.3m/sec) on Saturday.
She is the only Grade A Nigerian athlete, who has been consistent in
the Diamond League meets, where she comes up against the best athletes
in the world.
The Women’s 100m,was won by American athlete,English Gardner,who
did a world-leading women’s 100m time of 11.00sec in a wind of 1.8m/sec.
In the Men’s category,Justin Gatlin took the 100m victory ahead of Tyson Gay at Gainesville meet in a time of 10.06sec.
Nigeria’s Okagbare would be delighted that she is back among the elites, even as she looks forward to being the best.
she disappointed me at the 2012 Olympics but still love her
