Delta by-election: Uduaghan, PDP stalwarts meet behind closed doors •...As Ogboru canvasses support for Dafinone at rally

The Governor of Delta State, Dr Emmanuel Uduaghan, his deputy, Professor Amos Utuama, Chairman of the state’s  Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), Chief Peter Nwaoboshi  as well as caretaker chairmen of local government areas, met on Tuesday at the Government House annex, Warri, Delta State.

The closed door meeting was held ahead of Saturday’s Delta Central Senatorial District seat with candidates of the PDP,  the All Progressives Party (APC) and  the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) campaigning ahead for a great showdown.

The meeting was still in progress as of the time of filing this report.

Initially, newmen were not  formally invited to cover the event, but the governor, on being told that journalists were poised to have a feel of the essence of the meeting, later addressed them but warned troublemakers to steer clear of the Saturday’s election.

The governor sued for the best conduct among the candidates, their supporters and other stakeholders during the by-election to the Senate seat, that became vacant after the sudden demise of the late Senator Pius Ewherido on June 30.

Uduaghan informed  newsmen that security reports have it that certain individuals have perfected plans to breach the peace before, during and after the election.

AHEAD of the Delta Central Senatorial district by-election coming up October 12, chieftain of the Democratic People’s Party (DPP), Great Ogboru has enjoined people of the district to rally round candidate of the party, Chief Ede Dafinone, to coast home the victory.

The governorship candidate of DPP in the 2011 governorship election,  who addressed a large turnout of DPP members at the Sapele Athletic Club, said that time has come when the people of Sapele and Delta Central, would vote Chief Ede Dafinone, to occupy the senate for effective representation and good governance.

He said the people should come out massively, locate their voters cards and vote for Chief Dafinone who has all it takes to lead them well at the senate, assuring that the Obama of Urhobo will never disappoint them when he gets to Abuja.

Chief  Dafinone appealed to the people to vote him into the House, after he X-rayed his empowerment programmes so far to the people, thanking his party DPP for making him their choice as their flag bearer and the good people of Delta Central, for the support they have given him in the past, even at the moment in ensuring that he wins the election.
