Anichebe late strike rescues West Brom

Victor Anichebe was on target for West Brom as they forced Chelsea to a 1-1 draw in an English Premiership game played at the Hawthorns on Tuesday night.

His well placed 87th minute header ensured the title winning ambition of Jose Mourinho’s men suffered a massive setback as they failed to extend their lead at the summit of the EPL log.

Chelsea shot into the lead courtesy of Branislav Ivanovic’s late first half strike as he volleyed home a corner to give the Blues a slim lead at the break.

On resumption of the second half, the Baggies mounted pressure on the visitors’ defence and got the equaliser through Anichebe who replaced Morgan Amalfitano in the 73rd minute of the encounter.
