Cristiano
Ronaldo filled the vacant spot left by Madrid-bound David Beckham when
he signed for Manchester United in 2003 – but it would seem the
similarities between the two footballers don't stop there. Indeed, the
Portuguese winger has enjoyed a career comparable to the the former
England skipper.
Like Becks, the moisturized midfielder has also
developed separate interests away from the pitch – and he was on hand to
launch his latest at Madrid’s Palacio de Cibeles on Thursday.
Ronaldo
was attending the official launch of his new underwear range, CR7, and
anyone wondering what his debut collection looks like didn’t have to
look too far - a 19-metre tall campaign image featuring the chiseled
winger in all his glory was suspended above in the landmark building’s
renaissance courtyard.
"I am very proud to officially launch CR7
today, and especially to see my campaign image displayed in this
beautiful building, one of the most famous landmarks in Madrid," he
said.
"I put a lot of passion and dedication into creating this
new underwear line and I am delighted to finally launch it globally
today."
Monochrome
images of the footballer from Giampaolo Sguraecho echo David Beckham’s
recent Bodywear campaign for high-street chain H&M, in which the
tattooed 37-year-old poses moodily in a series of dramatic shots.
Ronaldo
has previously modelled for Armani Jeans, but his latest campaign marks
an inaugural brand venture and his first attempt at fashion designing.
Ronaldo's new underwear range will be available to buy starting from today, November 1.
