Plane crashes in Lagos, killing 15

An Associated Airline plane carrying the corpse of the former governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Agagu,  crashed few minutes after leaving the Lagos Airport, killing 15 people including the late politician’s two son.
The plane was said to be carrying 20 other passengers including family members of the late politician.

A witness said the crash occurred at the local wing of the airport close to the section were JET-A1, plane fuel, is stored.


Fire service officials were seen evacuating the occupants of the plane.

“There’s a lot of smoke coming from the runway, but we can’t get access to it,” witness Rasaki Rhakod said in a Reuters report. “There are firefighters rushing to the scene.”

The plane was said to be heading to Akure.
