SUPERSPORT TV deal worth $34 million won by Nigeria league
The Nigeria league has clinched a historic four-year television deal with Supersport worth about $34 million.
The TV deal will kick off from 2015, according to the chairman of the League Management Company, Nduka Irabor.
“Even though the amount is a far cry from what we need it would go a long way in changing the league,” disclosed Irabor
“With this Nigerians, will have the pleasure of watching six matches a week. And this means happier days are ahead.
“This contract has also seen Supersport assuring that Nigerians who
are working with them will have their jobs secured at least till 2019.”
He added: “It’s also important to know that for every year beginning
from this year, they have agreed to give us $2m per year beginning from
the season meaning we will be having more money in the league.”
The Nigeria league has been bogged down by lack of sponsors, but the
recently created LMC appear to have thrown all efforts to ensure there
is now more cash in the 20-team championship. (MTNFOOTBALL)
