Kenneth Omeruo is due to undergo a medical at English Premier League side Chelsea on Friday.The Nigeria defender left Nigeria for London on Thursday after being granted a work permit by the British Home Office.
The trip was almost skuppered by a delay in issuing his documentation at the British High Commission in Abuja but it was all sorted on time for him to depart late Thursday night.
However, he will be unable to join the rest of the Chelsea squad as there was no time for him to apply for a US visa.
It is not yet clear if Chelsea intends to keep the Nigeria for the current season, or if he will be farmed out on loan again.
But the club's insistence on securing a work permit for him means he might stay in England, even if not at Chelsea.
