Angry Everton reject £28milion bid from United for Fellaini and Baines

Manchester United boss David Moyes has risked causing a major rift in the relationship with his former employers after failing with a £28million bid for both Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini.

Goodison bosses were stunned and angered  by the derisory offer from United which constituted a £16million bid for Belgium international Fellaini and a £12million bid for flying full-back Baines.

Everton had already previously rejected a £12million offer for England full-back Baines from United.
The offer was swiftly rejected by the Toffees who were less than impressed by the fact that United made their offer a fortnight after a £23million release clause in Fellaini's contract expired.

The offer for both players was made by Manchester United Chied Executive Ed Woodward just 48 hours before the Premier League kicked off on Saturday in a move designed to unsettle the sought-after pair.

An Everton spokesman responded to the report published in today’s Liverpool Echo by stating: “We can confirm a bid was made and that it was rejected out of hand.”
