Golden Eaglets departs for Morocco


The Golden Eaglets of Nigeria will on Wednesday depart Lagos en-route Morocco,for the African Under 17 championship,which commences on Saturday April 13.
Nigeria have been imperious through out the qualifiers,losing none of their matches,as they qualified effortlessly for the African Championship.
Coach Manu Garba’s team touched down in Nigeria last week,after undergoing a three-week, final training programme at the Aspire Academy for Sports Excellence,in Qatar,where they played a series of friendly games,including a 1-0 victory over Al Sadd,club of former Spanish player,Raul.
The Golden Eaglets will fly into Casablanca aboard a Royal Air Maroc airplane,before proceeding to Marrakech,where the Group B games will be held.
Nigeria are in group B,alongside Ghana, Ivory Coast and Congo DR,with only the first two qualifying for the semi-finals and automatically the FIFA Under 17 World Cup.
Golden Eaglets will take to the pitch on Sunday,against West African rivals,Ghana in their first game of the competition,before playing Ivory Coast and Congo DR.
Confederation of African Football(CAF) will on Friday conduct the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test on all the participating teams,to make sure they fall within the required age-limit for the competition.
