Unknown Policemen threaten to bomp APC secretariat in Bayelsa, APC condemns attack

Interim Chair of the All Progressive Congress, Davis Ibaimu Ikanyu, is shocked and speaking out today about the attack made on the new APC office in Bayelsa State.

Opened less than 24 hours in the Tombia area of Yenagoa, Davis told SaharaReporters, PDP plain-clothes policemen raided the APC offices Thursday removing a bill board and party flags, and also threatened to bomb the office if APC leadership failed to stop operating in the state.

“This is a sad, and very unfortunate development which should not be associated with any decent administration,” said Davis.

PDP spokesperson, Barr. Oson Macgbere, denied the involvement of the PDP in the incident, saying, “No PDP member in the state would go near the APC secretariat. Let this APC people settle their security problem and their internal wrangling.”

“We are law abiding people and will never resort to such act.”

SaharaReporters contacted Bayelsea Police Command about the alleged police intimidation. Their spokesman, Alex Akhigbe, said he was out of town, but they were not aware of the incident.

There is a growing dissatisfaction and opposition to the administration of Governor Dickson and President Goodluck Jonathan, who both face re-election in 2015. Many think their lives have not improved under the administrations.

In a related story, Chief Tiwel Orunimeghe, former chairman of Southern Law Local Government Council in Bayelsa, and an ally of former Governor Timipre Sylva, opened a parallel APC office in Yenezue-Epie area of the state capital.

And SaharaReporters learned the office space in the Tombia area of Yenagoa, is in a building marked for demolition by PDP government.
