Nigeria's sports minister optimistic of winning FIFA U-17 World Cup

Nigeria's Minister of Sports Bolaji Abdullahi has said no team at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup can stop the Golden Eaglets from lifting their fourth title.

In a statement reaching Xinhua on Wednesday, the minister said the Eaglets were now unstoppable after their 3-0 win over Sweden in the semi- finals.

He was quoted as saying that the trophy would be a good end-of-the-year gift to President Goodluck Jonathan.

"The team is exceptional and their expected victory will be a good end-of-the-year gift to President Jonathan for his support and abiding commitment to the sports sector," he added.

The statement said the minister had travelled to the UAE earlier this week in the company of former Super Eagles captain Kanu Nwankwo, to cheer and support the players.

Nigeria on Tuesday defeated Sweden 3-0 to reach the final of the Under-17 World Cup in United Arab Emirates.

The Golden Eaglets will face reigning champions Mexico in Friday's final as they seek a record fourth title.
