US Open: Ruthless Serena Williams Qualifies For Semis

Serena Wiliams like the tides of an ocean,swept away Carla Suarez Navarro to qualify for the semi-finals of the US Open grand slam tournament.
 
It was an emphatic display by Serena,who needed just 52 minutes to defeat her opponent 6-0 6-0. 
Navarro failed to win a single game,and Serena cruised comfortably to the last four of the competition. 
“She’s a great player,” said Williams of her opponent. “The conditions are so tough and it was not her best tennis today. I’ve been playing here for like 50 years so I’ve kind of got used to the conditions.” 
Also in the other games in the women’s category,but Li Na and Victoria Azarenka defeated their opponents to equally progress in the competition.
 
In the Men’s category,defending champion,Andy Murray came from a set down to defeat Denis Istomin in the fourth round tie 6-7 (5-7) 6-1 6-4 6-4.
 
Murray will now play against Swiss player Stanislas Wawrinka in the quarter-final of the competition on Thursday.
 
“I wanted to just try and get through the match,” said Murray was quoted as saying on BBC Sports.
 ”In the end it was difficult conditions. It was extremely windy.”
 
“With the way he plays, he hits the ball pretty big and flat on both sides, strokes pretty low, hard at times to control. He made it very difficult for me.”
 
“With the way the third set ended up going, I was just very happy to get it done because he had chances at the end of the third set to go ahead.”
 
In other games,world number one Novak Djokovic defeated Marcel Granollers 6-3 6-0 6-0,while Mikhail Youzhny ended Lleyton Hewitt’s swansong,winning 6-3 3-6 6-7 (3-7) 6-4 7-5.
