US Open: Nadal and Azarenka advances to the semis

Rafael Nadal continued in his impressive showing at the US Open grand slam tournament,sweeping aside fellow Spaniard,Tommy Robredo in the quarter-final of the competition.
 
In a totally one-side game, Nadal cruised into the semifinal after seeing off Robredo  6-0 6-2 6-2 on Arthur Ashe Stadium.
 
Robredo made 22 errors in the first set and ended up losing it six-love,but only won two games each in the subsequent two sets.
 
“I think I played great the first set – it’s my first set so far this year at 100%,” said Nadal, who is currently dominating on hard courts.
 
“I did all the things that you expect to do good in the first set, in my opinion. I am very happy with the way that I moved myself on court, very happy with the way I hit my forehand and my backhand especially.”
“So in general it was my best match of the tournament, so that’s great news,” Nadal is quoted as saying  on BBC Sport.
 
Nadal will now play against Richard Gasquet in the semis,after the Frenchman defeated David Ferrer 6-3 6-1 4-6 2-6 6-3.
 
In the Women’s category, Victoria Azarenka qualified for the semifinal after beating Daniela Hantuchova in straight sets 6-2 6-3.
 
Azarenka who made last year’s finals will now play against Italy’s Flavia Pennetta in the last four.
