Seventeen Grand Slam winner,Roger Federer was on Monday knocked out of the US Open Tennis tournament at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.Federer suffered a shock loss to Spaniard Tommy Robredo in the fourth round, losing in straight sets 7-6 (7-3) 6-3 6-4.The loss quashes the prospects of Federer setting up a quarter-final meeting with arch-rival Rafael Nadal.“I kind of feel like I beat myself, without taking any credit away from Tommy,” said Federer.“I kind of self destructed, which is very disappointing, especially on a quicker court. Your serve helps you out. You’re going to make the difference somewhere. I just couldn’t do it. It was a frustrating performance today.”“I’ve definitely got to go back to work and come back stronger, get rid of this loss now as quick as I can, forget about it, because that’s not how I want to play from here on,” he said.“I want to play better. I know I can. I showed it the last few weeks, that there is that level, so today was pretty frustrating.”Meanwhile Rafael Nadal had to fight back from a set down,to defeat Philipp Kohlschreiber and reach the last eight.Nadal defeated the German 6-7 (4-7) 6-4 6-3 6-1 and will now play against fellow Spaniard Tommy Robredo in the quarter-final.
