Oscar Pistorius trial: Police conclude murder investigation as Paralympian prepares to face court on Reeva's birthday

The Paralympian maintains he shot Reeva Steenkamp by accident through the bathroom door after mistaking her for a burglar on Valentine's Day this year
Police probing the shooting death of Oscar Pistorius' girlfriend have concluded their investigation, according to reports in South Africa.

The Paralympian maintains he shot model Reeva Steenkamp by accident through the bathroom door after mistaking her for a burglar on Valentine's Day this year.

But prosecutors argue that her murder, at the athlete's exclusive gated home in Pretoria, was premeditated.
Pistorius, 26, is due back in court on August 19 - the day which would have been Reeva's 30th birthday.

At the hearing, Pistorius and his legal team will learn what evidence the state has against him. When the indictment is served, prosecutors are expected to disclose the evidence to allow him to prepare a defence.
No trial date has been confirmed as yet, although it is expected to be set for the first quarter of next year, Eyewitness News reported.

Last month, it emerged that detectives have been unable to forensically analyse Pistorius's iPhone which he used on the night he shot Reeva.
The 'Blade Runner' claims he has forgotten his iTunes password, which investigators need to access hidden or deleted data.
Police have asked Interpol for assistance in asking for help from Apple to access confidential information, in the hope the password can be retrieved from their servers.
As Pistorius prepares to face court again next week, he was reportedly spotted kayaking with friends on Sunday in Hermanus, South Africa.
The sports star has kept a low profile since he was released on bail in February, spending most of his time at his family home.
