Afrobasket: D’Tigers defeats Congo DR to qualify for next round

Nigeria’s D’Tigers on Friday made it two wins in two games,defeating Congo DR to consolidate on the leadership of group D at the Afrobasket championship in Abidjan.
 
Congo gave D’Tigers a good run,but the Nigerian players had enough composure in their tanks to muster a 93-75 victory.
 
The win did not come easy for Nigeria,coming with a cost as most key players got injured in the course of the game,with Andy Ogide and Richard Oruche joining Chamberlain Oguchi on the injury list.
 
Four Nigerian players finished with double figures . Alade Aminu led the scores for Nigeria with a game high of 23 points and 9 rebounds, while Ike Diogu chunked in 20 points and 12 rebounds.
 
Al Farouq Aminu contributed 15 points, 3 assists and 2 steals while Stan Okoye continued with his impressive showings,making 14 points in the game.
 
Mazembe Katanga guard,Bertrand Boukinda gave D’Tigers much problems and was at the heart of every thing good,going forward for the Congolese.
 
The win qualified D’Tigers for the next round of the competition,but they will have to battle for supremacy of the group,when they face Cameroon on Sunday.
