Security operatives impound plane carrying weapons at Kano Airport

Security operatives, on Saturday, uncovered and impounded a Russian plane carrying sophisticated military weapons at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.
It will be recalled that in July last year, at the same airport, an Ukranian plane conveying military equipment was impounded and detained for hours.
The Russian plane was impounded around 8.00p.m. along with its nine crew member for more than 10 hours by security operatives for what was said to be security reason.
Our source who preferred anonymity informed that when an investigation was conducted, the manifest of the plane indicated that it carried military weapons and this prompted security agents to impound the plane.
It was also revealed that the moment the plane touched ground, following its movement, security operatives became suspicious and had to effect action to unravel what it was carrying.

All efforts made by the Nigerian Tribune to get comments about the impounded plane from the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) met a stone wall.
However, our source disclosed that the outcome of investigation revealed that the plane had a technical landing at the airport.
It was also revealed that the landing of the plane was basically to refuel and that after it had been properly investigated that the plane meant no harm but to refuel, it was released by the security operatives.
Further investigation revealed that its destination was Kinshasha, Tanzania.

The source added that all the nine crew members were released along with the plane between 1-2 pm on Sunday.
