School proprietor caught raping 11-year-old pupil

There was outrage at Olope area of Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, as a man said to be in his 40s and proprietor of a nursery/primary school in the town was caught by members of the community as he was having sex with an 11-year-old pupil of his school.
It was gathered that enraged members of the community descended on the proprietor, Tunde Ibitoye, and nearly lynched him but for the timely intervention of the men of the state police command from Ologede police station.
He was said to have been caught pants down at a location in Agric Olope area of Ajilosun by a 30-year old auto mechanic, Mr Kayode Ayeni, while allegedly committing the act.
Ibitoye, said to be the owner of “God is Great Nursery and Primary School” in Kajola area of the town was rescued by the policemen and was taken to the Ologede police station from where he was transferred to the state police command headquarters.

Speaking on the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Ekiti police command, Mr Victor Babayemi, said Ibitoye was currently being detained at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) at the state police headquarters.
Babayemi told newsmen on Wednesday that the victim, who is his pupil, had revealed that Ibitoye had had sex with her four times, and explained that investigations were still going on on the matter.
According to Babayemi, the suspect was conveying the victim and one other pupil to their respective homes on Monday in his private car “and stopped at the new market on the pretext that he wanted to defecate, but with alleged intention to defile the girl.”
Babayemi added: “After five to ten minutes he had entered into the bush, the proprietor called the pupil to bring a toilet roll for him. But fortunately, a person was watching. And out of curiosity, the man went there and met the two of them naked. He then raised the alarm, which attracted people to the spot.”
The police spokesperson said the girl had been taken to the University Teaching Hospital, Ado Ekiti, for a medical examination, saying the outcome was being expected.
However, he said the suspect had continually denied having canal knowledge of the pupil, saying the police “are not buying such a story from him.”
Babayemi added that the father of the victim confirmed that the pupil had come home several times with bloodstains, which he said was mistaken for monthly menstrual flow.

The PPRO revealed that all other pupils in the school would be quizzed and critically examined to ascertain the level of sexual relationship between them and the suspect.
He regretted the upsurge of rape and defilement in Ekiti State in recent times, calling on parents to always look after their wards.
Ayeni, who caught them in the act, told newsmen on Wednesday that the suspect was a regular caller at a market under construction in the area, and alleged that the location had become a hideout for criminals in recent times.
