NDLEA Arrests 128 Suspects, Seizes 4,179Kg Of Drugs In Kogi

The Kogi Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested 128 suspected dealers in hard drugs and seized 4,179 kg of drugs in the last six months.
Alhaji Idris Bello, the NDLEA State Commander, made this known in Lokoja, yesterday, while addressing journalists.

He said that 16 vehicles conveying hard drugs were also impounded within the same period.
Bello said that 25 suspects were tried and convicted for various drug offences, while 25 others were rehabilitated by the agency.

He stressed that his command had put some strategies put in place to check drug trafficking in the state, saying: ``For us, we remain poised and unrelenting in efforts to rid our society of illicit drugs’ trafficking and abuse.”

Bello said that the command would celebrate the 2013 International Day Against Drug Abuse and Trafficking with the theme: ``New Psychoactive Substances: Make Health your New High Life, not Drugs.”
He advised parents to be extra vigilant while nurturing their children, urging them to always take interest in the lifestyles of their children and wards so as to prevent them from becoming victims of drug abuse.
