Gunmen invade 2 councils, multi-million naira relief materials destroyed

GUNMEN suspected to be fulani herdsmen  invaded Barakin-Ladi and Bokkos local government areas of Plateau State at the  weekend, destroying property worth millions of naira and forcing residence of the affected communities to flee their homes.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that the gunmen who were in their large number stormed Pandadi community in Barakin-Ladi Llocal Government in the early hours of Sunday and forced the people to flee their homes  before setting their properties on fire.

It was learnt that the arrival of men of the Special Task Force (STF) in charge of security in the state forced the gunmen to beat a retreat after about two hours of gunduel with the invaders.
While the security men were trying to restore sanity to the community, the Nigerian Tribune gathered that another set of gunmen  alleged to be on reprisal attack over two Fulani men killed earlier, stormed  Gwande in Manguna district of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The gunmen were said to have burnt two houses after killing two of the inhabitants before the villagers launched a counter attack, while the STF who arrived the scene of the incident later repelled the attackers.
A former councillor representing the area, Mr Arut Bulus, told the Nigerian Tribune on Monday that the attackers later went back to revenge the killing of their key officer.
Spokesman of the STF, Captain Salisu Mustapha, who confirmed the development  in Jos on Monday, said STF received distress calls and immediately responded.
Meanwhile, an inferno has destroyed relief materials worth millions at a warehouse in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State in the early hours of Monday.
