Former Prime Minister of Italy and owner of Serie A club,AC Milan,Silvio Berlusconi has been sentenced to seven years in jail by a Milan court and banned from public office for having sex with an underage prostitute.

The 76-year-old,already has a horde of  several other court cases trailing him, as he is being enmeshed in one form of controversy to another.

Berlusconi was convicted of paying for sex with Ms Karima El Mahroug, who at the time of the incident was 17 years of age, which is a violation of a law in Italy, where sleeping with a prostitute who is below 18 is an offence.

Both Berlusconi and El Mahroug denied any wrongdoings of their convictions.
Berlusconi was also found guilty of using his influence as Prime minister,by arranging for the release of El Mahroug from  police custody.

After the verdict was made, Berlusconi’s lawyer Niccolo Ghedini said that they will be making an appeal.
“This is beyond reality,” Mr Ghedini told reporters outside the court. “The judges even went beyond the prosecutors’ request.”
