Warring Communities Agree To A Cease Fire In Plateau

Citizens of troubled Riyom and Barkin Ladi local government areas of Plateau state, north central Nigeria have agreed to continuously live in peace with one another while peace efforts should be extended to villages and hamlets since majority of the people reside in the rural areas.

These are some of the decisions reached during the peace review meeting between Beroms and Fulani chaired by Plateau state Police Commissioner, Chris Olakpe at the police officers mess, Jos.
Traditional and community leaders including politicians and security agents were part of the meeting where various groups expressed their positions on how to sustain and maintain the needed peace in the state.
Senator Gyang Pwajok (Plateau North, PDP) expressed confidence that the ongoing peace process will be a continuous exercise in spite of the relative peace been experienced in the affected areas.
In maintaining and sustaining the relative peace been enjoyed on the Plateau, security chiefs organised the peace review meeting to assess the progress made so far in achieving relative peace among the Beroms and the Fulanis.
