The Golden Eaglets won silver in the just concluded Africa Youth Championship in Morocco to qualify for the World Youth Championship billed to take place this October in the United Arab Emirates; while the U-18 athletes topped the medals table in the inaugural Africa Athletics Championship in Warri, Delta State. Jonathan announced a cash donation of N500,000 for each of the Golden Eaglets, N1million for their coach, N750,000 for the assistant coaches and N300,000 for their curator.
For the athletes, the president announced N500,000 for the gold medalists, N400,000 for the silver medalists, N300,000 for the bronze medalists and N500,000 for each of the technical officials.
